DFW Intergroup of SAA

"Our addiction nearly destroyed our lives but we found freedom through Sex Addicts Anonymous."

Our Program

The Program of S.A.A is the Twelve Steps. We have only one Program. We, as members of S.A.A., are here for one thing, and one thing only: To recover and help others to do the same. We have done so by working and living the Twelve Steps! It can be described as a spiritual program of action. We work the Program!

Our Purpose

Our 5th Tradition describes this purpose: “Each group has but one primary purpose – to carry its message to the sex addict who still suffers.” Our Fellowship, made up of S.A.A groups, has no other purpose. We live with Purpose!

Just like we have one program and one purpose, we also have one message to the new comer.

Our Message

Our 12th Step describes this message. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to other sex addicts and to practice these principles in all our lives. We carry the  message and serve others!

We see Sex Addicts Anonymous in two parts. These parts are called the Program and the Fellowship .

Our Fellowship

Our 3rd Tradition tells us who is welcome in the Fellowship. “The only requirement for S.A.A. membership is a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior”.  We join the Fellowship.

If that is your desire, then you are welcome in the S.A.A. Fellowship. However just joining our Fellowship was insufficient to solve our dilemma of not being able to stay away from the sexual behavior that was giving us trouble. We had to go further and that meant more action. We learned we recover by the steps we take. “In our experience, though meetings (the Fellowship) are important, they are not sufficient for recovery from sex addiction. We need the spiritual solution offered by the 12 Steps (The Program). The steps are the spiritual solution to our addiction.” (Sex Addicts Anonymous, 3rd Ed, International Service Organization of SAA Inc., page 99).

In our experience both parts work together to help the sex addict who wants to get over acting out. The Fellowship supports the new comer as they go through the Program guided by a sponsor. When the new member works the Program they are called to help the next new member of the Fellowship do the same thing as part of the 12th step. As the cycle is repeated the Fellowship grows with more and more recovered sex addicts. The hope that recovery is probable becomes visible to all whose lives are touched by the sex addict. “Not alone, but together, thru a Power greater than ourselves, we can and do recover from sexual addiction. (Sex Addicts Anonymous, 3rd Ed, International Service Organization of SAA Inc., page viii).

We join the Fellowship and work the Program as an ongoing new way of living. As a result of living this way we have found that, “We have recovered and been given the power to help others.” (Alcoholics Anonymous, 4th Ed, Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc., 2001, page 132)

We are not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous, nor are we a part of any other organization.

We do not support, endorse, or oppose outside causes or issues.
